How do I know if I am eligible?

If you have funding for Support Coordination and Psycho-social Recovery Coaching in the Capacity Building portion of your plan, you are eligible to access Specialist Support Coordination. On some occasions this may be a stated-support (meaning you cannot use the funds for other services), but this is not always the case. Please send us a message if you are unsure about eligibility.

What is Specialist Support Coordination?

Specialist Support Coordination is a service that addresses specific and complex participant needs. Their role requires a higher level of knowledge and experience with various systems, and is more intensive than that of a general Support Coordinator.

A specialist support coordinator may assist sorting through complex budgeting issues, managing conflict within a team, or addressing high-risk issues such as child protection, severe behaviours of concern, interactions with the prison system, or homelessness.

Navigating Systems

Support understanding systems such as Department of Human Services, SAHealth, Department of Corrections, Department of Education, Housing SA, Department of Child Protection, Public Trustee, and Office of the Public Advocate

Clinical Knowledge

Integration of clinical social work knowledge and experience to manage risks related to health, safety, and behaviour. This is done by incorporating practices such as trauma-informed, narrative therapy, attachment theory, and conflict mediation (plus additional skills already utilized in general support coordination).

Quality Management

Advocating on behalf of others in interactions with service providers and key stakeholders, ensuring the participant receives appropriate and high-quality services that meet their complex and usually intense level of need.
